peacockThe Lanes in Rolling Hills Estates – Sorel, Dapplegray, and Buckskin Lanes are all well known for the white fences and horse trails….but the peacocks are also quite prevalent there!  This time of year you are sure to get a show from the males.  Tonight this pretty guy was showing off for about 6 females all in the front yard of someone’s house right off of Buckskin Lane.  The goats were a naying and the peacocks were a braying.  It’s such a rural feel over in Rolling Hills Estates.  You are so close to the beaches on one side and the freeways on the other.  It is hard to believe you are in Los Angeles County over in this neck of the woods.  It really is beautiful and beaucolic.  The sun sets  through feathering branches of pepper trees.  The smell of the country is every where – fresh and green.  It’s truly magical over there and seeing peacocks in full regalia is so fulfilling…just part of the package!  This one was dancing about for its female prospects…circling around showing all sides of its grandeur.

There are some downsides to all this as well – the peacocks eat up the flowers in the gardens, jump on top of your cars and roost on roof tops cacawing all the way.
