Rocketship Park Invite for new equipment review.

Come on Saturday, February 20th, 2016 at 10:00 am  if you would like to provide input and discuss the new play equipment planned for Hollywood Riviera’s famed Rocketship Park, also referred to as Los Arboles Park.   The park is located at 5101 Calle de Ricardo, Torrance, CA 90505.
Apparently,  the sand area around the famed rocketship and the ship itself will not be involved.  The effort is focused solely on replacing the play equipment zone: slides, swings, “moon lander”, etc.  Three options have been presented for consideration, each with different cost and usage considerations.  All new equipment will be built to ADA standards and sand replaced with new, resilient wood fiber material.  Designs will focus on the 2-5 and 5-12 age groups.  No restrooms, nor trees/foliage or shade structures are included.  Similar refurbishments can be seen and judged at Victor, Greenwood, Hickory, and McMaster Parks within Torrance.

The Rocketship was installed in 1964 and then restored in 1992 (residents complained loudly when park officials removed the structure earlier that year), this four-level spaceship provides one of the best views of the entire L.A. basin and now features an official plaque from the Torrance Historical Society.
